In the ongoing context of war in Ukraine, a growing need is forming for a common EU foreign policy. A clear set of rules and guidelines needs to be established to delimitate red lines of actions. Outside threats to the European Union need to be assessed at a European level to allow for a stronger common approach.
Negotiations with the Islamic Republic of Iran over a possible return to the Joint Comprehensive Program of Action (JCPOA), signed in 2015, have come to an end. Currently, all signs are that they have not succeeded and that there will be no return to the JCPOA. EU Watch’s Foreign Policy Desk is now working on a closed expert seminar on EU policy towards Iran. Our objective is to provide exclusive information and insight as well as expert analysis of the EU’s policy towards Iran.
Our event is aimed at enhancing the understanding of European and International action(s) vis-à-vis Iran and at bringing to the attention of the participants the views and recommendations of different experts who are coming from very different backgrounds and regions.
EU Watch’s selected panellists will answer the following questions and more:
- What impact does Russia’s war in Ukraine have on relations with Iran?
- Will it still be possible to prevent Iran from reaching the “breakout moment”, and which actions are required?
- What scenarios could unfold in the coming months? What is Europe’s “Plan B” in case no agreement is reached?
- Is there a place for legitimate business with Iran? Which red lines that must not be crossed?
