Who?

Bismellah Alizada is a researcher at the SOAS University of London and programme director at Rahila Foundation. He previously worked as Deputy Director at the Organization for Policy Research and Development Studies in Afghanistan. Furthermore, he co-founded Rahila Foundation, an organization based in Kabul, working for youth empowerment through education and capacity building.

Ambassador Nasir Andisha was appointed as Permanent Representative of Afghanistan to the UN in Geneva in 2019. Earlier, he was the ambassador of Afghanistan to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Petras Auštrevičius is a Member of the European Parliament and Chair of the Parliament’s Delegation for relations with Afghanistan. He is also member of the Foreign Affairs Committee (AFET) and the Subcommittee on Security and Defence (SEDE). From 2004 to 2008, he was a member of the Lithuanian Parliament (Seimas).

Deren Derya is the Head of Division of the Afghanistan and Pakistan Division in the European External Action Service (EEAS), a region she has been covering since 2019. She began her career in the EU institutions in 2007, first working on enlargement and then external relations. She joined the EEAS in 2011. She has worked on a range of issue such as conflict resolution, human rights, good governance, security and counterterrorism.

Hosna Jalil is a former Deputy Minister of Interior Affairs of Afghanistan, a post she was appointed at age 26. She was the first Afghan woman ever appointed to a senior post in the Interior Ministry of Afghanistan. She served from 2018 until the Taliban took over the country.

Marika Theros is a nonresident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council and a Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
