As a watchdog organization, EU Watch monitors and scrutinizes EU policies and decisions, promoting transparency, accountability, democracy, and human rights. Our goal for this conference is to dissect the current status quo, analyse challenges, and introduce ideas that could inform policy decisions at both EU and national levels.

For this event, we are partnering with HIAS Europe, a global nonprofit organization that protects and supports refugees and asylum seekers of all backgrounds, providing essential services and advocating for their rights.

The conference will bring together key stakeholders, including decision-makers from EU institutions, civil society representatives, policymakers, migration experts and interested listeners, to discuss critical issues in migration and security. 

Key discussion topics: 

• Pact on Migration and Asylum: Analyse the strengths and weaknesses of the pact as well as the upcoming reforms and challenges 
• EU External borders: Discuss the balance between security and human rights, focusing on key players of border security, trends in irregular crossings and externalization of migration management
• Integration Policies: Assess the effectiveness of current policies, address vulnerabilities, and highlight best practices for successful integration.
• Future of EU Migration: Engage in a debate on the future of migration policies in the EU (“Fortress Europe” vs. “Open Borders”), considering the growing demand for more security and the implications of political polarisation.
